February 9, 2026, Rohtak : The grand four-day ‘Bharangam’ and ‘Sarang’ festival was inaugurated on Monday at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak. At the inauguration ceremony, Bhojpuri singer and MP Manoj Tiwari, who was the chief guest, captivated the audience with his popular songs. The ‘Sarang’ festival, which began around 11 a.m., continued until 5 p.m., showcasing various cultural performances in the courtyard of the University’s FTV department. The event ‘Bharangam’ started in the mini auditorium, organized by the National School of Drama. Under this, in the evening, the play ‘Umeed: Manushya Zinda Hai’ was staged. Manoj Tiwari mentioned DLC SUPVA in his songs and repeatedly requested the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Amit Arya, to invite him to the university again.

Guests had started arriving since morning to participate in the ‘Bharangam’ and ‘Sarang’ festival. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya, along with his team, welcomed the guests. First, the guests offered floral tributes to the statue of the Surya Kavi Pandit Lakhmi Chand installed on the university campus. After that, the flags of ‘Bharangam’, ‘Sarang’ festival, and the university were hoisted, and the program began with the lighting of lamps. During this time, Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari, along with famous Bollywood actor Yashpal Sharma, Olympic medal-winning wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, wrestler and model Sangram Singh, senior NSD theatre artist Vidyanidhi, Rohtak DC Sachin Gupta, filmmaker Atul Gangwar, Chairperson of Haryana State Women’s Commission Renu Bhatia, and social worker Subhash Ahuja were primarily present. All the guests viewed the photo exhibition displayed in the University Gallery. Manoj Tiwari was quite impressed by the rangoli made there and congratulated the team who created it. The university registrar, Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha, introduced all the guests to everyone from the stage. SUPVA students are fortunate : Manoj Tiwari
MP Manoj Tiwari recited lines from several Bhojpuri songs during his address, which made the audience and students dance with joy. He said that the song from the web series Panchayat, ‘Hey Raja Ji, Ekare Ta Rahal Zarurat Muhurat Khoobsurat Ho,’ is a song that has originated from the soil of Bihar. Just as the writings and folk songs of Dada Lakhmi Chand are famous in Haryana, many old folk songs from Bihar are also trending worldwide today. This teaches us that we need to present our cultural heritage, inherited from our roots and soil, by integrating it with modern art. When we were struggling, it felt like we needed someone to teach us the nuances of singing, acting, and dancing, but at that time, resources were limited. You are fortunate to be students of an institution like DLC SUPVA, where there are immense opportunities to learn and advance. During this time, they performed the songs ‘He He He Hans Dele Rinkiya Ke Papa’ and songs related to Chhath Maiya, in which the word ‘SUPVA’ was added. Through this song, they requested to be repeatedly invited to the University by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya. They said, ‘In SUPVA to Amit Babu, the request is that Manojwa comes again and again.’ They congratulated the University for organizing the world’s largest theatre festival ‘Bharangam’ and the ‘Sarang’ festival.
SUPVA is better than many major institutions in the country : Yashpal Sharma
Actor Yashpal Sharma said that having such a large international theatre festival ‘Bharangam’ at DLC SUPVA is a big deal. February 9 will definitely be recorded in the history of the university. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya has revived SUPVA. The vibrancy of this place has returned once again. I feel that SUPVA is even better than FTII located in Pune. Students should take advantage of the facilities available here. The best thing is that the Vice-Chancellor and other staff always stay among the students. Students do not need to go far for their problems. He advised students to work with creativity and good thinking. Wrestler Sangram Singh inspired the students to work hard. He said that athletes and artists need to get a bit ‘crazy’ to become better. He also said that if you don’t learn anything even after coming to such a great institution, then there will be nothing to learn later either. He congratulated the institution for the successful event.
‘Rang-Sangeet’ of Kathak and the University captivated the audience
The first performance of Sarang was presented by DLCSUPVA student Nishtha, who charmed everyone with a classical Kathak dance on the song ‘Vande Mataram’. Meanwhile, 14 students from the University performed ‘Rang-Sangeet’, prepared over the past week under the direction of Devendra Ahirwar, making everyone groove to the music. The students themselves prepared this song through discussions and dialogues. The wonderful fusion of melody, voice, and rhythm in the songs was a treat for the audience. The students also presented songs and poems at intervals.
After the inauguration of the four-day festival ‘Bharangam’ and ‘Sarang’ at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, renowned actor Yashpal Sharma, wrestler and model Sangram Singh, Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission Renu Bhatia, and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya posed with a fiber hammer prepared by the visual arts students.
