Bharat Parv Showcases India’s Cultural Soul and Democratic Spirit, Says Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla

BHARAT PARV IS AN EXPERIENCE THAT CONNECTS, INSPIRES AND INSTILS PRIDE: LOK SABHA SPEAKER

New Delhi | January 26, 2026: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated Bharat Parv at the historic Red Fort on Republic Day, describing the festival as a vibrant expression of India’s soul where culture, democracy, creativity, and unity come together.

Addressing the gathering, Birla said Bharat Parv is not merely a cultural celebration but a powerful reminder of the constitutional values that bind the nation. He noted that the festival embodies the spirit of a self-reliant India and reflects the ideals of democracy, justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution.

Highlighting the significance of Republic Day, Birla said Bharat Parv acts as a bridge between constitutional principles and the public by presenting these values through tradition and collective celebration. By showcasing art, crafts, cuisine, and music from across the country, the festival offers a living experience of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat and reinforces the idea that democracy thrives when citizens remain connected to their heritage.

Emphasising youth participation, he stated that cultural engagement helps young Indians reconnect with their roots while shaping a future driven by innovation and national values. Festivals like Bharat Parv also contribute to tourism growth, strengthen local economies, and support the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by creating livelihood opportunities in handicrafts, handlooms, and regional cuisine. “Culture is not only identity — it is also opportunity,” he said.

Birla underlined that inclusivity is the defining strength of Bharat Parv. He said visitors would witness Republic Day grandeur, performances by defence forces, cultural presentations from different regions, vibrant handicraft and handloom markets, a pan-India food court, and live folk art performances. Together, these elements form a colourful mosaic of India’s plural identity, demonstrating that diversity is the country’s greatest strength.

Paying tribute to artists, artisans, folk performers, and musicians, Birla described them as custodians of India’s living traditions and pillars of the nation’s cultural and moral strength. He added that their work carries forward knowledge, values, and skills across generations, and Bharat Parv provides them with dignity, recognition, and livelihood. He also saluted the Armed Forces, stating that their disciplined performances reflect service, sacrifice, and patriotism, strengthening national confidence and collective resolve.

Describing the Red Fort as more than a historic monument, Birla said it represents India’s collective memory. From being a symbol of the freedom struggle to a stage for showcasing cultural confidence today, the venue represents the blend of history and modernity that inspires the nation to move forward while remaining rooted in its civilisational heritage.

Calling upon citizens to protect and promote India’s cultural legacy, Birla said preservation is not solely the responsibility of the government but a shared societal duty. He expressed gratitude to the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, state governments, partner institutions, artists, volunteers, and all stakeholders for making the event possible.

Concluding his address, Birla said Bharat Parv is an experience that connects, inspires, and instils pride. He urged citizens to carry its spirit throughout the year by supporting local art, honouring artisans, preserving languages and traditions, and practising democratic values in everyday life.

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and several dignitaries were also present at the event.
