Union Education Minister Chairs ‘Samagra Shiksha 3.0’ Meeting to Reimagine School Education in India

New Delhi: Union Education Minister  Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday convened a high-level consultation on Samagra Shiksha 3.0, titled ‘Reimagining Samagra Shiksha’, at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra. The meeting brought together State and Union Territory officials, education experts, and senior representatives from the Ministry of Education to develop a strategic roadmap for the next phase of India’s flagship school education program.

The one-day meeting aimed to identify priorities and actionable strategies for governance, infrastructure, teacher training, and student outcomes, ensuring that Samagra Shiksha becomes more outcome-oriented and aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Pradhan emphasized that the Prime Minister’s vision for a developed India can only be realised when every child has access to quality education and the nation achieves 100% enrolment up to Class XII. He highlighted the need to address learning gaps, reduce dropout rates, enhance teacher capacity, improve nutrition and learning outcomes, and instil critical skills in students. Stressing the importance of community engagement, the Minister said, “Schools must once again be entrusted to society”.

The consultation included contributions from  Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Education, who stressed that Samagra Shiksha 3.0 reflects the principles of the National Education Policy 2020, integrating vocational skills, digital learning, and inclusion to prepare students for future employment and life challenges.

Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of School Education and Literacy, underlined the importance of improving learning outcomes, ensuring age-appropriate education, and achieving curriculum parity across state boards. He also advocated the integration of Artificial Intelligence and digital tools into teaching-learning processes.

A detailed presentation by  Dheeraj Sahu, Additional Secretary, School Education and Literacy, highlighted progress under Samagra Shiksha and NEP 2020, while outlining key focus areas for 2026–27, including access, equity, quality, teacher development, digital education, and outcome-based learning.

 Pradhan called on all stakeholders to collaborate in preparing a robust annual plan for 2026–27, marking the beginning of a nationwide movement to strengthen India’s school education ecosystem and develop human capital in line with the country’s long-term development goals.

Samagra Shiksha is an integrated, centrally sponsored scheme that provides a holistic approach to school education, covering the entire spectrum from pre-primary to senior secondary level.
