Gurugram- Vice-President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, inaugurated the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Brahma Kumaris’ Om Shanti Retreat Centre (OSRC) in Gurugram today, marking a significant milestone for the women-led spiritual organisation.
During his address, the Vice-President said he was pleased to join the event commemorating nearly two and a half decades of meditation-based service offered by the Centre. He noted that people from diverse fields—ranging from science and medicine to governance and public life—continue to seek inspiration from OSRC’s message of peace, mindfulness and inner stability.
Radhakrishnan reflected on India’s long-standing spiritual tradition, shaped by the tapasya and meditative practices of rishis, sages and munis. He emphasised that disciplines such as Rajyoga and Vipassana remind us that true clarity, strength and resilience come from inner awakening.
Commending the Brahma Kumaris for nurturing this legacy, he said the organisation has played a vital role in guiding people across India and overseas towards calmness, emotional balance and purity of mind.
Connecting spirituality with national development, the Vice-President highlighted the Prime Minister’s vision of a Viksit Bharat@2047, where material progress must walk hand-in-hand with emotional well-being.
He stressed that meditation is no longer optional, but a crucial life skill in today’s busy, high-pressure lifestyle.
The Vice-President also praised OSRC’s commitment to sustainability and environment-friendly practices, noting its alignment with Mission LiFE, the nationwide movement promoting eco-conscious living.
He appreciated the Centre’s green initiatives such as:
a 1 MW hybrid solar energy system
rainwater harvesting structures
biogas and water treatment facilities
eco-friendly kitchen systems
free sapling nurseries
tree plantation activities under the Kalp Taru project
He also acknowledged the Brahma Kumaris’ role in campaigns like Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, and their ongoing efforts to promote dignity for elders and spread the message of Karmayoga.
Referring to the recent launch of the Brahma Kumaris initiative “Rajyoga Meditation for World Unity and Trust” by the President of India in Lucknow, Radhakrishnan expressed confidence that the 25th anniversary year will open new doors for broader community engagement and spiritual service.
The event was attended by Rao Narbir Singh, Haryana’s Minister for Environment, Forest, Industry & Commerce, along with senior members of the Brahma Kumaris.
