Amit Shah Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance on Infiltration at BSF Diamond Jubilee in Bhuj

At the BSF’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the Union Home Minister lauds the force’s valour, promises complete modernization, asserts India will be free from Naxalism by March 2026, and warns political opponents against obstructing the SIR initiative.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Friday addressed the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Bhuj, Gujarat. Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary, and several dignitaries were present.

In his address, Shah said that over the last six years, the BSF has demonstrated unmatched courage, compelling the world to accept that “as long as the BSF stands guard, the enemy cannot cast an eye on even an inch of India’s land.” He saluted the bravery of BSF personnel, noting that they have continuously discharged their duties as the nation’s “first responders” with extraordinary valour and supreme sacrifice. A total of 2,013 BSF soldiers have laid down their lives while securing India’s borders.

Shah praised the resilience of the people of Kutch, recalling their role during wars and natural calamities. He noted that despite the devastating 2001 earthquake, the region has rebuilt itself “100 times more beautiful and developed,” a testament to its indomitable spirit.

Highlighting the BSF’s unique role among Central Armed Police Forces, the Home Minister said the force alone guards India’s land, air and water frontiers, covering the 2,279 km border with Pakistan and the 4,096 km border with Bangladesh. He emphasized that the coming year will be dedicated to complete modernization of the BSF, followed by a year focused entirely on the welfare of jawans and their families. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the force will become “the world’s most modern and technologically advanced border security force within the next five years,” he said.

Referring to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, Shah said the response through ‘Operation Sindoor’ sent a clear message that India will give a decisive reply to any aggression. He added that within days, Pakistan was forced to announce a unilateral ceasefire. During the operation, nine major terrorist infrastructures of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Hizbul Mujahideen, and Lashkar-e-Taiba were destroyed. He paid tributes to Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz Ahmad and Constable Deepak, who made the supreme sacrifice.

Shah stated that India will be “completely free from Naxalism by 31st March 2026” due to the relentless efforts of security forces. In Chhattisgarh alone, the BSF facilitated the surrender of 127 Maoists, arrested 73, and neutralised 22. The so-called ‘Tirupati-to-Pashupati’ Red Corridor, he remarked, will soon become a corridor of security and rapid development.

The Home Minister highlighted the BSF’s remarkable success in curbing drug infiltration, noting that the force seized over 18,000 kg of narcotics in 2025, calling it a “historic achievement.” He warned political parties opposing the voter list purification exercise under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative, asserting that infiltrators will be identified and deported. “Only Indian citizens will decide who governs India,” he said, adding that the mandate from Bihar clearly shows that citizens reject infiltration at any cost.

Shah also announced major steps to secure India’s borders, including impenetrable fencing and the rollout of the revolutionary ‘e-Border Security’ system within a year. He highlighted the establishment of the National Academy for Coastal Policing at Okha, Gujarat, managed by the BSF, to deliver world-class training for marine policing.

The event also witnessed honouring of BSF personnel with one Police Medal for Gallantry (posthumous), eight President’s Medals, and several prestigious trophies including the General Chaudhary, Maharana Pratap, and Ashwini Kumar Trophies. A commemorative postage stamp was released to mark the BSF’s 60-year journey.
