New Delhi- Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, inaugurated the second edition of India MedTech Expo 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The event is organized by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, in association with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Export Promotion Council for Medical Devices (EPCMD), and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
Addressing the gathering, Goyal described the recent GST reforms as a significant step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, urging all 140 crore Indians to unite and work collectively towards making India a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He emphasized that the reforms are aimed at creating a self-reliant and inclusive economy where every citizen participates in India’s sustainable growth.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Secretary, Department of Health Research, and Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), underlined the importance of academia-industry collaboration in strengthening India’s MedTech ecosystem. Dr. Bahl noted that ICMR, through initiatives like MedTech Mitra and Patent Mitra, would facilitate partnerships between research institutions and industry players to drive innovation and enhance India’s global standing as the Pharmacy of the World.

Officials, including Nitin Kumar Yadav, Additional Secretary, and Dr. Rajiv Singh Raghuvanshi, DCGI, highlighted India’s proactive regulatory reforms, ease of doing business initiatives, and efforts to position India as a healthcare and wellness hub. The reforms focus on light regulatory frameworks with strong execution, enabling faster growth and global competitiveness for the Indian MedTech sector.
Praveen Kumar Mittal, Executive Director, EPCMD, highlighted that India’s medical devices sector, currently valued at nearly USD 15 billion, is projected to double by 2030, driven by over 800 start-ups, robust R&D, and a growing manufacturing base.

The three-day expo, themed ‘India: Global MedTech Manufacturing Hub – Precision Engineering yet Affordable’, is witnessing participation from over 150 international buyers representing more than 30 countries. The event showcases innovations from MSMEs, start-ups, research institutions, state showcases, and government initiatives, fostering collaborations to transform healthcare access in India and globally.
With strong backing from leading industry associations such as AIMED, ADMI, MTAI, AMTZ, AMCHAM, APACMED, ADVAMED, APMEI, ASSOCHAM, CII, FICCI, INVEST INDIA, PHDCCI, NATHEALTH, USIBC, and USISPF, the expo highlights India’s ambition to emerge as a global MedTech manufacturing hub.
