Folk singer vows collective efforts to keep Ganga river clean, calls it the lifeline of India

Patna – The Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUDCO) has appointed renowned folk singer Neetu Kumari Navgeet as the brand ambassador for the Namami Gange campaign, aimed at promoting the cleanliness of the Ganga River. BUDCO Managing Director Animesh Kumar Parashar handed over the certificate of appointment to Navgeet, entrusting her with the responsibility of spreading awareness about river conservation.

Speaking to the media after receiving the honor, Neetu Kumari Navgeet highlighted the power of folk music as an effective medium to reach every section of society for a noble cause. She emphasized Bihar’s rich tradition of folk songs, many of which are dedicated to Mother Ganga, reflecting the deep cultural and spiritual connection with nature.

Navgeet described the Ganga River not only as the lifeline of the country but also as the supreme pilgrimage among sacred rivers. She reminded that cities of immense religious importance, such as Haridwar, Kashi, and Patna, are situated on its banks, and that the entire Arya Sanatan Vedic culture flourished along this river, making it a cornerstone of Indian heritage.

“Keeping the Ganga clean is the responsibility of all of us, as it is both Mokshdayini (liberator) and Sursarita (divine river). The glory of Ganga is boundless,” she said. Expressing gratitude to BUDCO and its Managing Director, Navgeet pledged to carry out this significant responsibility with collective participation and support from society, ensuring the campaign reaches every household.
