Hyderabad- Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth conducted a two-day visit to the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex in Hyderabad on July 16 and 17, 2025, to review key strategic programmes of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). During the visit, he assessed the progress and ongoing developments in missile and weapon system programmes led by DRDO’s premier cluster labs—Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Research Centre Imarat (RCI), and Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL).
At DRDL, Seth visited key work centres associated with India’s advanced missile technology, including Astra Mk I and Mk II, the Vertically-Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM), and scramjet engine development facilities. He was briefed by U Raja Babu, Distinguished Scientist and Director General (Missiles and Strategic Systems), and G A Srinivasa Murthy, Director of DRDL, on the current status and future roadmap of these indigenous strategic programs.
The Minister also toured critical RCI facilities where he reviewed advancements in Indigenous Navigation and Aviation Systems, Onboard Computer Division, and Imaging Infrared Seeker technologies. RCI Director Anindya Biswas provided a comprehensive update on these high-impact, indigenous capabilities that are crucial to strengthening India’s defence self-reliance.
Impressed by the innovations and commitment of DRDO scientists, Sanjay Seth lauded their significant role in advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He emphasized the importance of indigenously developed, state-of-the-art weapon systems for bolstering India’s defence preparedness.
