(Gonda)Uttar Pradesh, July 18, 2024 – A major train accident occurred today involving the Dibrugarh Express (15904), which derailed between Jhilahi railway station and Gosai Dihwa in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district. The train, originating from Chandigarh, saw 15 of its bogies leave the tracks, resulting in at least two fatalities and injuring approximately 25 passengers.
Emergency services and railway officials were promptly dispatched to the scene to manage the rescue operation and provide immediate assistance to the affected individuals. The rescue and relief efforts are currently underway.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed district authorities to ensure that those injured receive prompt and adequate medical care. In a statement posted on X, the Chief Minister’s office announced: “Following the train accident in Gonda district, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed district administration officials to expedite relief efforts. The Chief Minister has emphasized the need to transport the injured to hospitals swiftly and ensure they receive proper treatment. He also conveyed his wishes for the speedy recovery of those affected.”
The incident has drawn a swift response from local and railway authorities as they work to manage the aftermath of the derailment and support the victims and their families.
