Tragic Accident on Karur-Trichy Highway Claims 5 Lives in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu : A devastating road accident in Tamil Nadu claimed the lives of five people early this morning on the Karur-Trichy Highway near Kulithalai in Karur district. The accident occurred when a car, traveling from Coimbatore to Orathanadu, collided with a bus moving in the same direction. The impact was severe, causing the car to dash against the bus and then run aground, leading to tragic consequences.

According to police and eyewitness reports, the car was traveling at high speed when it hit the bus from behind. The sudden collision resulted in the car losing control and veering off the road. The front portion of the vehicle was completely crushed, leaving little chance for the occupants to survive. All five victims were trapped inside the mangled wreckage, and by the time rescue teams arrived, they had already succumbed to their injuries.

The bus, which was carrying passengers to its destination, sustained minor damages, but no casualties were reported among its occupants. Some passengers, however, suffered minor injuries due to the sudden jolt caused by the impact.

Upon receiving the alert, local police and emergency response teams rushed to the scene. Fire and rescue services were deployed to extricate the bodies from the wrecked vehicle. The deceased were later identified, and their bodies were sent to the government hospital in Karur for post-mortem examination.

Traffic on the Karur-Trichy Highway was disrupted for several hours due to the accident. Authorities had to clear the wreckage to restore normal vehicular movement.

Preliminary investigations suggest that rash driving, overspeeding, or possible driver fatigue could have contributed to the accident. Officials are also examining whether the car’s driver attempted to overtake the bus, leading to the tragic collision.
