Government taking all-out effort for preservation and conservation of Marathi language- Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde

Mumbai, 27 February,2024  – “Marathi is the language of communication, thinking, literature and affection. The government is taking all-out efforts for promoting and disseminating besides preserving and conserving the Marathi language at all levels,” asserted Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde.

Kusumagraj Sahitya Jagar program was today organized by the secretariat on the occasion of Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din at the Maharashtra legislature in Central Hall of Vidhan Bhavan. It was inaugurated at the hands of Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Mr Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. He was speaking on this occasion.

The speaker of Legislative Assembly advocate Rahul Narvekar, Deputy chairperson of state legislative council Dr Neelam Gorhe, higher and technical education minister Chandrakantdada Patil, minister for school education and Marathi language department Deepak Kesarkar, leader of opposition in the state legislative council Ambadas Danve, chief of Marathi Bhasha Samiti legislator Chetan Tupe, secretary of legislature Jitendra Bhole, Vilas Athawale and members of the Legislature were present on the occasion.

Greeting all on the occasion of Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din and paying respect to Kusumagraj on his anniversary, Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde further said that the birthday of Kusumagraj is celebrated as Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din. He said that Kusumagraj had adorned Marathi language with his talent and was instrumental in creating a variety of literature. He said that littérateurs, Philosophers, lyricists, Writers, Journalists and others have played an important role to keep the language alive and further promote it.

Chief Minister Mr Shinde also said that efforts are on for providing the status of ‘Classical Language; to Marathi and a committee headed by senior littérateurs Dyaneshwar Mule has been formed. He said that along with the promotion, dissemination, preservation and conservation of Marathi language, the reading culture should also be strengthened and with this objective, the government had implemented various initiatives in this direction. He said that the government is also encouraging and helping various boards abroad for the promotion of Marathi language.

All possible assistance for making Marathi Prosper’

The Chief Minister further said that funds are being made available for promotion of Marathi language through All India Marathi literary Meet, Natya Sammelan, World Marathi Conclave and other such initiatives. He said that the Marathi language Bhavan is being erected in South Mumbai and a sub- center is constructed at Airoli, adding that the Marathi language department is implementing various initiatives for the conservation of Marathi language.

Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly advocate Rahul Narvekar said that every state has been given the responsibility of preserving and promoting the culture and language of state by the constitution adding that along with the government, every citizen should contribute in preservation of our culture and language and to further promote it.
