Heavy rains have battered parts of Himachal Pradesh since late Wednesday, resulting in multiple incidents of cloudbursts that have caused significant devastation. On Thursday, cloudbursts in the Mandi, Shimla, and Kullu districts left around 50 people missing, while two bodies have been recovered so far. Tragically, a total of 5 people have lost their lives due to these incidents.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more rain for Friday and has issued a red alert for the Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi districts. This red alert signals severe weather conditions, prompting authorities and residents to take immediate precautionary measures. The IMD has also warned of potential flash floods, exacerbating the already critical situation.
Rescue operations are underway, with teams working tirelessly to locate the missing individuals and provide aid to those affected. The continuous heavy rains have also led to landslides and road blockages, complicating rescue and relief efforts. Authorities are on high alert, and efforts are being intensified to ensure the safety of the residents in the affected regions.
Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid traveling to vulnerable areas. Relief camps have been set up to accommodate those displaced by the floods and landslides, and emergency services are being mobilized to provide necessary assistance.
