UP Government Unveils Rs 12,909 Crore Supplementary Budget for FY 2024-25

Lucknow, July 30 2024 :  The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday presented a supplementary budget exceeding Rs 12,909 crore for the 2024-25 financial year in the state assembly. The supplementary budget amounts to 1.66 percent of the original budget of Rs 7.36 lakh crore presented in February, as stated by State Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna.

Minister Khanna detailed the budget allocation, noting that the revenue account expenditure is set at Rs 4,227.94 crore, while the capital account expenditure stands at Rs 7,981.99 crore. The supplementary budget aims to bolster key sectors such as industrial development, energy, and education.

Key allocations in the supplementary budget include:

  • Industrial Development: Rs 7,500.18 crore to drive growth and infrastructure improvements in the industrial sector.
  • Energy Department: Rs 2,000 crore to enhance the state’s energy resources and infrastructure.
  • Transport Department: Rs 1,000 crore for the purchase of new buses to improve public transportation.
  • Urban Development: Rs 600 crore allocated to the Amrit Yojana for urban development initiatives.
  • Skill Development: Rs 200 crore dedicated to short-term programs under the Uttar Pradesh Skill Mission.
  • Sports and Recreation: Rs 100 crore allocated for the construction of rural stadiums and open gyms.

The education sector also received significant attention, with Rs 28.40 crore proposed for establishing laboratories in 284 government inter-colleges under the secondary education department and Rs 66.82 crore for setting up labs in 1,040 government secondary schools.

Further provisions include Rs 74.90 crore for various cultural department schemes, Rs 53.15 crore for establishing Atal residential schools, and Rs 2.79 crore for the maintenance of residential and non-residential buildings associated with these schools.

The supplementary budget reflects the UP government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, education, and industrial development, aiming to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
