Raipur July 18 2024 : Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has vowed to persist in the fight against Maoism following an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast by Naxal insurgents in Bijapur district that resulted in the deaths of two security personnel. The attack, which occurred in the Tarrem area on July 16, 2024, also left four soldiers injured.
In a statement on X, Chief Minister Sai expressed his condolences and reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating Maoism from the region. “The Naxalites are disturbed by our government’s efforts to eliminate Maoism and are resorting to cowardly attacks. The sacrifice of these brave soldiers will not be in vain. We will continue our fight until Maoism is completely eradicated,” Sai said.
The deceased have been identified as Constable Bharat Sahu from Raipur and Constable Satyer Singh Kange from Narayanpur. They were part of a combined force from STF, DRG, CoBRA, and CRPF engaged in an anti-Naxal operation when the blast occurred. The security personnel were returning from the operation when the IED was detonated.
Chief Minister Sai also extended his prayers for the peace of the fallen soldiers’ souls and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. “We have received tragic news regarding the martyrdom of two STF jawans and the injury of four others in this attack. I pray for the souls of the martyred soldiers and for the swift recovery of those injured,” he added.
The Bastar Police reported that the joint operation was launched following intelligence about the presence of Naxal groups in the border area between Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma districts.
