Mandaviya Promotes 'Garv se Swadeshi' at Fit India Cycle Rally in Delhi

New Delhi, September 7, 2025: Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, visited the ‘Garv se Swadeshi’ stalls during the ‘Fit India: Sundays on Cycle’ event at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.

Mandaviya actively participated in the cycling drive, which was held simultaneously at over 8,000 locations across the country, as part of a nationwide campaign promoting fitness, Swadeshi products, and environmental awareness. The initiative is being run in collaboration with the Indian Railways, under the theme ‘Garv se Swadeshi’.

Speaking to reporters, the Union Minister highlighted the significance of the movement:

“‘Sundays on Cycle’ was organised today to take forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra for ‘Swadeshi’ and ‘Fit India’ in more than 8,000 places. We saw sports goods made by Swadeshi brands at Dhyan Chand Stadium… PM has reduced GST from 18% to 5% to encourage such products. Cycling is the best example of Swadeshi and self-reliance, and it is also the best solution for pollution.”

Mandaviya urged citizens to adopt Swadeshi products and contribute towards building an Atmanirbhar Bharat. He further expressed happiness that 50 Members of Parliament joined the rally to spread the message of fitness and Swadeshi.

Since its inception, the Fit India: Sundays on Cycle movement has reached over seven lakh individuals across more than 40,000 locations nationwide. The programme is spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), Raahgiri Foundation, MYBharat, My Bikes, and other fitness organisations.

Cycling rallies were also organised across all State and Union Territory capitals, SAI Regional Centres, National Centres of Excellence, Training Centres, and Khelo India Centres, amplifying the message of fitness and sustainability.
