DCP traffic Usha starts new drive to control traffic violation, gift plants to violators

Challan issued to violators, plants gifted with condition of submitting photo of planting these trees to get penalty waived

Faridabad: An initiative was started under the guidance of DCP Traffic Usha at Ankheer Surajkund Road. It was a drive to issue Challan to traffic violators. However, the unique thing is that the violators were gifted with plants while making them aware of traffic rules.

The important part of initiative was that the violator that has been issued Challan and gifted plant has to submit his photo of planting to the department and get the Challan waived. In the second part of the initiative the DCP awarded appreciation letter to students that took part in the drive. People caught driving two- wheeler without wearing a helmet was made to administer oath to wear helmet while they were also gifted with plants.

Speaking on the occasion, DCP said that it is very common practice that people misuse the traffic rules and ignore safety of self and others on road. There are two wheeler drivers that never use helmet while driving. There are vehicle owners that are not habitual of carrying papers of the vehicle required by law. Use of seat belt is also a point ignore by many motorists.

All these violations actually lead to high number of road accidents in the country. In view of these violations, the government has made several changes in the rules to ensure safety of road users. She said that the drive initiated today is also to make people aware of traffic rules and educate them about the road safety. She said that the objective of police department is not to have high number of Challan but to let people understand the traffic rules and the importance of road safety.
A total number of more than 90 commuters were made aware during the drive. Present on the occasion was ACP Traffic Jitesh Malhotra, SHO Traffic Vinod Kumar, Traffic inspector Darpan Kumar, Darpan Singh and traffic inspector Satish Kumar. Volunteers from road safety organisation that took part in the awareness drive included S.K. Sharma, Satish Chandila, Sanjiv Bhardwaj, D.K. Mandal, Pintu, Mannu Bhatia etc.
