Faridabad, May 18– Haryana State Women Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia has strongly condemned the objectionable remarks made by an Assistant Professor from a university in Sonipat against Colonel Sophia Qureshi, a distinguished officer referred to as “India’s daughter”, who played a key role in addressing the nation during Operation Sindoor, India’s anti-terror operation.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday at Aravalli Golf Club in Faridabad, Renu Bhatia said Haryana Women Commission has taken up the matter seriously. She emphasized that such mindset must be rooted out, and people should be called out and made to understand the consequences of such actions. The Commission’s investigation also revealed that the Professor’s ancestors were involved in funding a political party in Pakistan, a matter which should be investigated further by intelligence agencies.

She also urged the concerned university administration to take strong administrative action and terminate the professor’s services. “How can someone with such an anti-national and disrespectful mindset be allowed to educate students?” she questioned.

Negligence in the case led to transfer of a police officer.
Renu Bhatia revealed that there was negligence on the part of the police during the early stages of the action, and recognizing the seriousness of the case, the state government ordered the transfer of a police officer from the concerned district. She expressed gratitude to CM Nayab Singh Saini for acting swiftly and ensuring accountability.

THE Haryana State Commission for Women’s Chairperson stated that this action demonstrates the government’s firm commitment to women’s safety and dignity. Any attempt to insult the honor or self-respect of women will be met with immediate and strict action by the Haryana Government.
