Union Minister Chirag Paswan Announces Major Investment by AB InBev in India’s Beverage Sector

New Delhi : Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan announced that Belgium’s AB InBev has committed to investing $250 million in India’s beverage sector, with the investment spread across various regions in the country over the next two to three years. The announcement was made following a meeting between Paswan and company officials at the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos. This investment marks a significant step forward for India’s food processing industry, with Paswan highlighting that it would contribute to job creation and economic growth.

Minister Paswan expressed that the investment symbolizes the growing opportunities and global confidence in India’s market. He emphasized that this is another historic milestone in India’s food processing industry, further cementing the country’s position as an attractive destination for foreign investment. He also noted that the infrastructure developed in recent years has significantly boosted global companies’ confidence in investing in India.

“This investment is a clear sign of the increasing opportunities in India’s food processing sector, and it will be a key driver of economic progress and employment generation,” Paswan stated. He also pointed out the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clear policies, including initiatives like single window clearance and ease of doing business, which have been crucial in encouraging foreign investments in India.

During the WEF meeting, Minister Paswan also met with leaders from other global companies, including CP Group’s Chairman Chris Soopakij Chearavanont and Coca-Cola’s Chief Operating Officer Henrik Brown. Paswan discussed various opportunities for value addition in the food processing sector, further emphasizing the potential for growth in India’s food industry. These interactions reflect the growing international interest in the sector, driven by the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.

Yesterday, Paswan also inaugurated the India Pavilion at the WEF in Davos, showcasing the country’s potential in sectors such as food processing, agriculture, and manufacturing. This pavilion serves as a platform for showcasing India’s economic opportunities to the global business community and strengthening the country’s global business relationships.
