New Delhi, 26 May: Following the vision of Vikshit Delhi Sankalp, and under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the guidance of Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, Delhi’s Industries Minister Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa convened a review meeting with senior officials of the Industries Department and DSIIDC to assess the way forward towards resolving issues plaguing industries of Delhi. In the meeting, it was resolved that DSIIDC will soon conduct Delhi Industrial Ideathon 2025. This is in line with the vision of Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa who has often said, ‘Innovation is the Solution.’
In a significant step to foster innovation and empower young talent, Delhi’s Industry Minister Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa informed that Delhi Industrial Ideathon 2025, a flagship initiative by Department of Industries & DSIIDC, Government of NCT Delhi (GNCTD), and leading educational institutions across the capital will aim to bring together the brightest student minds to develop innovative solutions addressing key industrial challenges.
Scheduled for July/August 2025, Delhi Industrial Ideathon 2025 will bring together over 120 teams from more than 30 leading institutions , with hundreds of students participating in a dynamic two-day innovation sprint. The event invites teams of 2 to 4 students—each team required to include at least one female participant and preferably comprising members from multiple disciplines—from top tech and management universities and colleges. Together, they will collaborate to develop innovative Ideathons addressing real-world industrial challenges.
“Delhi Industrial Ideathon 2025 is more than just a competition — it is a platform where the brightest minds of Country will collaborate to solve the pressing issues facing our industries. Like everywhere else, in Industries too, Innovation is the Solution.” said Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa . “This initiative reflects our government’s commitment to digital transformation, youth empowerment, and inclusive growth through entrepreneurship.”
The event targets four sectors designed to drive innovation and impact, (i)Traditional & Village Industries – This sector emphasizes modernizing rural and artisanal industries by integrating technologies like blockchain to enhance transparency in subsidy disbursal and developing digital tools to upskill workers and artisans.
(ii)Frontier Technologies – Focused on advanced tech solutions such as AI-powered advisory systems that support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in decision-making, operational efficiency, and growth strategies.
(iii)Green Technologies – Dedicated to sustainability, this sector promotes innovations that track and reduce carbon footprints, facilitate waste management and exchange platforms, and support circular economy initiatives.
(IV)Trade & Logistics – Aiming to optimize supply chains and regulatory compliance, this sector encourages solutions like smart dashboards for real-time compliance monitoring and intelligent logistics management tools that improve efficiency and transparency.
Each sector carries an allocation of ₹20 lakh from the ₹80 lakh total prize fund.
The evaluation panel consists of 4 experts (2 Industry, 1 Academician, 1 Govt official) who will shortlist candidates based on alignment with focus sectors, innovation, feasibility, impact, and use of emerging technologies. Each member scores individually, followed by group discussion to finalize the shortlist. Delhi Industrial Ideathon 2025, with a prize pool of over ₹80 lakhs, will award ₹10 Lakh to the winner, ₹7.5 Lakh to the runner-up, and ₹5 Lakh to the second runner-up with consolation prizes The competition is open exclusively to student teams from colleges and universities. Top winners will also receive mentoring and potential partnerships with state agencies for project implementation.
The organizing partners will ensure robust media outreach, including social media, radio, and print, to maximize participation and visibility. A special emphasis is placed on encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and gender inclusivity, with bonus evaluation points for teams that include at least one female participant.
Delhi Industrial Ideathon 2025 stands as a testament to the Delhi government’s vision for a digitally advanced and industrially resilient future, empowering the next generation to not only imagine change but to build it. This Delhi Industrial Ideathon 2025 aims to drive innovation, promote entrepreneurship, support prototype development, and boost digital readiness through the use of emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, and data science.
