New Zealand Climbs Rankings After Dominant Start Against Pakistan

Dubai, Mar 19 ,2025 : New Zealand’s impressive performance in the ongoing white-ball series against Pakistan has resulted in significant gains for three of their players in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings.

With a commanding 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series, New Zealand’s revamped opening partnership has played a crucial role in their early success.

Batting Gains:
Tim Seifert and Finn Allen have delivered impactful performances, helping New Zealand dominate the Powerplay. Seifert has jumped 20 places to joint 13th in the T20I batters’ rankings after scoring 44 and 45 in the first two matches. Meanwhile, Allen climbed eight spots to 18th, following his unbeaten 29 and a solid 38-run knock.

Despite these movements, Australia’s Travis Head remains the top-ranked T20I batter, followed by India’s Abhishek Sharma and England’s Phil Salt.

Bowling Standouts:
New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy achieved a career-best ranking, soaring 23 places to 12th overall, thanks to his six-wicket haul in the first two matches. On the other hand, Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf picked up two wickets in Dunedin, moving up four spots to 26th. West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein continues to lead the T20I bowling rankings.

ODI Rankings Update:
Changes were also recorded in the ODI rankings, influenced by matches in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 in Windhoek. Netherlands’ young spinner Aryan Dutt climbed two places to 33rd after claiming two three-wicket hauls against Namibia. His teammate Paul van Meekeren advanced six spots to 61st after an impressive three-wicket spell.

Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus re-entered the ODI all-rounder top 10, moving up two places to 10th after a four-wicket haul against Canada and a half-century against the Netherlands. Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai continues to dominate the ODI all-rounder rankings.

With New Zealand’s dominant start in the Pakistan series, further changes in the rankings are expected as the tournament progresses.
