Republic Day Parade 2025 to Celebrate India’s Rich Diversity and Military Strength with Focus on 75 Years of Constitution

New Delhi, January 20, 2025: The Republic Day Parade in 2025 promises to be a remarkable display of India’s rich cultural diversity and military prowess, with special emphasis on 75 years of the enactment of the Indian Constitution and the theme of “Jan Bhagidari,” according to Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. Speaking at a press briefing, Singh revealed that the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, will grace the event as the Chief Guest for the Republic Day Parade on January 26.

The Parade at Kartavya Path will feature a 160-member marching contingent and a 190-member band contingent from Indonesia, participating alongside the Indian Armed Forces contingents, creating a truly international representation. As part of the celebrations, 31 tableaux from various states, Union Territories, and Central Government ministries will highlight the theme “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas,” showcasing India’s development and heritage.

A special focus will be on marking the 75th year of the Indian Constitution, with the release of balloons displaying the official logo of the Constitution’s 75th anniversary, just after the National Anthem. The parade will culminate with a spectacular flypast involving 47 aircraft.

This year, the parade will also commemorate several key milestones, including the 150th birth anniversaries of prominent figures like Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, as well as the India Meteorological Department’s contributions. Additionally, two tableaux will spotlight the celebration of 75 years of the Indian Constitution, further underscoring its significance.

The Republic Day celebrations will begin with Prime Minister Narendra Modi laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. President Droupadi Murmu will then arrive at Kartavya Path in a ceremonial buggy, where she will take the salute during the march past. The ceremony will include various contingents, including units from the Armed Forces, Para Military Forces, Auxiliary Civil Forces, NCC, and NSS.

For the first time, around 2,000 winners of different online competitions organized by the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with MyGov and All India Radio, will be invited to the event. Additionally, 300 cultural artists from across India will open the parade, playing instruments and performing renditions of “Sare Jahan Se Achha.”

The public will also be able to access free metro rides to the event, as Delhi Metro services will begin operations at 4 a.m. on January 26. There will be designated parking spaces at metro stations, and a “Park and Ride” service will be available for invitees. These services will be complemented by hired buses to ferry attendees to the parade venue.

In a special gesture, Delhi-based couples representing each state and Union Territory, dressed in traditional attire, will be invited to witness the parade. Their participation symbolizes the country’s diverse cultural fabric, further enhancing the spirit of unity.

The Republic Day celebrations will conclude on January 29 with the Beating Retreat Ceremony at Vijay Chowk. The event will feature a musical display of Indian tunes played by participating military bands, and the lowering of the National Flag accompanied by the National Anthem.

To continue the celebrations, the Ministry of Tourism will host the “Bharat Parv” at the Red Fort from January 26 to 31, featuring a showcase of Republic Day tableaux, performances by military bands, cultural activities, and a food court offering regional Indian cuisines. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to meet with NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, youth exchange program cadets, tribal guests, and others involved in the Republic Day celebrations at his residence on January 24.

Additionally, a PM’s NCC rally with the theme “Yuva Shakti-Viksit Bharat” will take place at Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantt. on January 27, where the Prime Minister will review the various NCC activities.
