Raipur, July 4 : Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai awarded Rs 2 lakh each to 13 meritorious children from economically weaker sections during the second ‘Jandarshan’ event held at his residence on Thursday. The public program, designed to address citizens’ requests and appeals, saw Sai also planting a Dehiman sapling in honor of his mother. Known for its medicinal properties, the Dehiman plant is native to the Surguja region. Visitors at the event also availed themselves of health check-up services arranged on-site.
The financial assistance, provided under the Mukhyamantri Noni-Babu Medhavi Shiksha Sahayta Yojana, included Rs 1 lakh as an incentive and Rs 1 lakh for purchasing scooters to help the students commute to schools and colleges. These students, who topped the 2023-24 board exams for classes 10 and 12, come from families of laborers.
Chief Minister Sai also urged people to join the “Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam” campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by planting a sapling in honor of their mothers.
In the previous Jandarshan program, a significant number of applications were resolved on the spot or shortly after. Many individuals, including differently-abled persons who received tricycles and other equipment on Sai’s instructions, attended Thursday’s event to personally thank the Chief Minister for the prompt resolutions.
