Delhi– In a major crackdown on illegal arms trafficking, the Delhi Police successfully busted a clandestine arms factory in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, and recovered a large stockpile of firearms, raw materials, and manufacturing equipment. The operation, led by PS Sarai Rohilla under the supervision of ACP Anil Sharma, was carried out through a combination of technical surveillance, field investigations, and actionable intelligence from local informants.
The case began on the intervening night of 11–12 August 2025 when a woman from Chuna Bhatti, Sarai Rohilla, Delhi, filed a complaint alleging that her brother, Shubham @ Lala, was fired upon by a local youth while standing on the terrace of their house. The country-made pistol used in the incident was recovered by a neighbor, while the accused initially fled the scene.
A 16-year-old boy from Sarai Rohilla was apprehended on 12 August 2025. During questioning, he admitted that the firing incident arose from a dispute over the purchase of a Lord Ganesha idol and revealed that he had obtained the pistol from Vijay Kumar @ Bunty, a resident of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
Acting on the juvenile’s disclosure, the Delhi Police team conducted coordinated raids in Aligarh, where Vijay Kumar @ Bunty, 24, was apprehended from Ganga Garhi on 27 August 2025. Five empty cartridges and one live round were recovered from his possession. Bunty revealed that he procured illegal arms and ammunition from Bijender Singh @ Madhura, a 61-year-old farmer from Mathura.
Police then tracked Bijender Singh to Mathura, where after multiple raids and intelligence gathering, he was arrested on 30 August 2025. Examination of his mobile phone revealed video evidence of large-scale firearm manufacturing. Singh disclosed that a man named Hanvir, also known as Hannu or Pappu, was operating an illegal arms factory in Aligarh.

On 01 September 2025, the police reached Jattari Pishawa Road, Aligarh, and raided a locked two-room facility. Officers discovered machinery, equipment, and raw materials used to manufacture illegal firearms at a mass scale. Hanvir @ Hannu @ Pappu @ Ghurra, 60, admitted during interrogation that he had been manufacturing illegal firearms for 15–20 years, frequently relocating his operations.
