Gaurav Khanna Wins Fans’ Hearts as Lord Rama at Agra’s Janakpuri Mahotsav

Anupamaa actor’s first portrayal of Lord Rama draws cheers, with social media users praising his divine look and comparing him with Ranbir Kapoor

Agra, October 12, 2026: Television actor Gaurav Khanna impressed audiences with his portrayal of Lord Rama at Agra’s Janakpuri Mahotsav 2026, drawing loud cheers and widespread appreciation from fans.

The event, held at Bhavana Estate in Agra, featured a grand stage depicting scenes from the Ramayana. Khanna appeared as Lord Rama for the first time, while actor Vindu Dara Singh portrayed Lord Hanuman.

As Khanna made his way through the crowd towards the stage, spectators applauded his appearance and performance. Videos from the event subsequently circulated on social media, where fans praised his traditional look, calm demeanour and portrayal of the revered mythological character.

Several users described Khanna’s appearance as “divine”, while others compared his portrayal with Ranbir Kapoor, who is set to play Lord Rama in filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana. Some social media comments expressed a preference for Khanna’s appearance, though the comparisons reflected individual fan opinions.

Khanna also shared the occasion with his family. The actor revealed that he had brought his parents to watch him perform, marking their first opportunity to see him act live. His parents reportedly appreciated his performance.

The appearance comes after a busy period in Khanna’s career. Following his exit from the television show Anupamaa, he moved into reality television and won Bigg Boss 19 and Celebrity MasterChef. He later participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi 15, where an injury affected his journey on the show.

Meanwhile, Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama in Ramayana has attracted considerable attention ahead of the film’s scheduled theatrical release on November 5, 2026. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra, also features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.

Khanna is also reportedly preparing for a return to daily television with an upcoming romantic family drama opposite Shraddha Arya. The project, associated with producer Ektaa Kapoor, is said to be under development.

His appearance as Lord Rama at the Agra festival has added another notable moment to his career, bringing together his television popularity and audiences’ enthusiasm for mythological performances.
