UP CM Yogi Adityanath launches development projects worth Rs 435 crore in Deoria, Gorakhpur

Lucknow, August 29, 2026; Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday announced a major development push for Deoria and Gorakhpur, launching and laying the foundation stones for projects with a combined value of more than Rs 435 crore.

The initiatives cover infrastructure, public amenities and welfare-related works across both districts, with a significant share of the projects focused on the Salem Pur and Bhatpar Rani Assembly Constituencies in Deoria.

According to the Chief Minister, 80 development projects worth around Rs 305 crore are being taken up in the two Deoria constituencies. In Gorakhpur, 170 projects involving an investment of more than Rs 130 crore are being inaugurated or initiated.

A newly developed Kalyan Mandapam at Basharatpur in the Rapti Nagar area of Gorakhpur was also highlighted as part of the public-oriented initiatives.

Yogi Adityanath said the projects reflect the state government’s emphasis on strengthening infrastructure while expanding public welfare and improving facilities for residents.

The Chief Minister described the development programme as part of his government’s broader objective of ensuring growth across different sectors and extending the benefits of governance to people at the grassroots level.

The announcement comes shortly after the Uttar Pradesh government introduced the Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yatra, a scheme providing free bus travel to women aged 60 years and above.

Under the initiative, senior women can travel free of cost on state buses. The government has also announced free travel for women along with one accompanying person on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

While launching the scheme in Lucknow earlier this week, Yogi Adityanath said the initiative was intended to make travel more accessible and dignified for elderly women.

The scheme has been named after Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar, whom the Chief Minister cited as an example of effective governance and women’s empowerment. He said her contributions to public administration and the preservation of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage continue to serve as an inspiration.

The Chief Minister further said the state government was implementing a broad policy framework for women’s welfare, covering areas including education, employment, entrepreneurship, safety and dignity.

The latest development projects in Deoria and Gorakhpur are part of Uttar Pradesh’s continuing efforts to expand infrastructure and public services across the state.
