New Delhi, July 22:Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, has proposed the expansion of Ayush treatment services across Military and Field Hospitals by writing to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The proposal seeks to establish dedicated Ayush Outpatient Departments (OPDs) to provide holistic healthcare support to Armed Forces personnel.
In his letter, Jadhav highlighted the significant contribution of the Armed Forces Medical Services in delivering healthcare to soldiers serving in demanding operational conditions. He said integrating India’s traditional systems of medicine with the existing medical framework could further strengthen preventive, promotive and rehabilitative healthcare for defence personnel.
The minister pointed out that Ayush facilities are currently available only in a limited number of institutions under the Ministry of Defence, leaving many Military and Field Hospitals without access to these services. He recommended extending evidence-based Ayush treatment to all such hospitals to improve healthcare accessibility and overall well-being of soldiers.
According to the proposal, the expanded services would focus on preventive healthcare, lifestyle management, rehabilitation and complementary treatment alongside conventional medical care. The initiative aims to create a more comprehensive and patient-centric healthcare system for military personnel.
Jadhav also informed the Defence Ministry that the Ministry of Ayush is ready to provide technical expertise, professional guidance and institutional support for implementing the proposal. He said the ministry is willing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate the rollout of Ayush services across defence healthcare institutions.
The proposal reflects the government‘s continued efforts to promote integrated healthcare by combining modern medicine with India’s traditional medical systems while improving healthcare services for the country’s Armed Forces.
