BJP Appoints Dr. Archana Gupta as Haryana State President, Mohan Lal Badoli Replaced

First Woman BJP State Chief in Haryana After 43 Years; Seen as Close to Manohar Lal

Chandigarh: After weeks of speculation and internal discussions, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Dr. Archana Gupta as the new Haryana BJP state president. The Panipat-based radiologist replaces Mohan Lal Badoli in the key organisational role. Dr. Gupta has become the first woman to lead Haryana BJP in nearly 43 years. Before her, Dr. Kamla Verma served as the party’s first woman state president in 1980. Although there were strong chances of Mohan Lal Badoli getting another term as Haryana BJP chief, the party eventually chose Dr. Archana Gupta after internal discussions, with former minister Aseem Goel also being considered for the post. Dr. Gupta, a gold medalist radiologist and former VHP activist, is seen as close to Manohar Lal Khattar and the party organisation. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said her appointment would energise the party, while political observers believe the move is aimed at strengthening BJP’s support among the influential Vaishya community in urban Haryana.
