New Delhi, May 3, 2026: India has dispatched its military contingent to Cambodia for the second edition of the India Cambodia joint military exercise CINBAX II, set to take place from May 4 to May 17 at Camp Basil in Kampong Speu Province. The exercise marks another significant step in expanding strategic defence ties between the two nations amid changing regional and global security concerns.
A total of 120 Indian Army personnel, primarily drawn from the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, will participate in the exercise alongside 160 troops from the Royal Cambodian Army. The collaborative training programme is designed at the company level and will operate under the framework of Chapter VII of the United Nations mandate, focusing on missions in sub conventional warfare settings.
This edition of CINBAX will concentrate on improving operational coordination in counter terrorism scenarios similar to those faced by peacekeeping forces during United Nations missions. The programme includes extensive field drills, tactical planning sessions, and validation exercises to sharpen combined military capabilities.
Advanced combat skills such as drone handling, sniper operations, and mortar deployment will also form an essential part of the training schedule. Through these specialised modules, both armies aim to improve tactical efficiency and strengthen their ability to respond jointly in challenging semi urban combat environments.
Beyond operational preparedness, the exercise will offer a platform for both sides to exchange professional expertise, operational insights, and best practices developed through their respective military engagements.
CINBAX II 2026 is expected to further deepen defence collaboration between India and Cambodia while reinforcing shared commitments toward regional stability, international peacekeeping, and cooperative security initiatives.
