Jaipur: The Vice-President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, addressed students at the 35th convocation ceremony of the University of Rajasthan, urging young graduates to take on the role of job creators and contributors to nation-building.
Speaking at the event, he highlighted Rajasthan’s legacy of cultural richness and courage, noting that cities like Jaipur represent a blend of tradition and modern growth. He praised the university for shaping individuals committed to knowledge, integrity, and public service.
Congratulating the graduating students, the Vice-President described convocation as both a milestone and a new beginning. He encouraged them to use their education to drive innovation, contribute to society, and uphold ethical values in their careers.
Referring to national development goals, he spoke about the vision of a self-reliant India under the leadership of Narendra Modi. He urged students to move beyond job-seeking and focus on entrepreneurship and innovation.
The Vice-President also emphasised the importance of women’s empowerment, pointing out that many top academic achievers in recent years have been women. He stated that equal opportunities and leadership roles for women are essential for a truly developed nation. He expressed optimism that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam will strengthen women’s representation in legislative bodies.
Addressing the challenges of a rapidly evolving world, he advised graduates to remain adaptable, think critically, and commit to lifelong learning. He stressed that success should be balanced with compassion, saying that excellence without empathy and achievement without humility remain incomplete.
He also encouraged young people to contribute positively to society, respect diversity, and avoid harmful habits such as drug use, while using digital platforms responsibly.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, Prem Chand Bairwa, Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, and Vice-Chancellor Alpana Kateja.
