Delhi, March 5: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a new Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at Monastery Market near Ladakh Buddhist Vihar. The project aims to improve pedestrian safety, provide seamless connectivity, and ease traffic congestion along the busy Ring Road corridor.
Designed to reflect Ladakh’s unique architectural style, the bridge will feature two lifts to ensure accessibility for elderly people, differently-abled citizens, and students commuting in the area. Officials said the bridge will offer a safe passage for pedestrians traveling between the Vihar and the market, while simultaneously allowing smoother vehicular movement.
The foundation ceremony was attended by Member of Parliament Praveen Khandelwal, Cabinet associate Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ladakh BJP President Tashi Gyalson, and other senior officials and local leaders.
Speaking at the event, CM Gupta emphasized the government’s commitment to modern urban infrastructure that blends functionality with cultural aesthetics. She noted that the bridge would not only enhance pedestrian safety but also support the broader initiative of creating more sustainable and people-friendly urban spaces in Delhi.
The project is expected to be completed within a year, providing long-term benefits to residents, shoppers, and commuters in the Monastery Market area.
