Overnight stays are strong bond of trust and transparency between administration and public : Dy Commissioner

Gurugram : Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar, during a night stay program organized in Abhaypur village of Sohna block on Wednesday, reached out to villagers to listen to their problems and directed officials from the concerned departments to ensure their resolution on an on-the-spot basis. A total of 24 complaints were registered during the program, and officials were given directions for prompt action. Upon arrival, villagers welcomed DC Ajay Kumar by wearing a traditional turban. Officials from various departments were also present on the occasion to ensure that problems could be resolved on the spot.

DC Ajay Kumar stated that the night stay program is not merely a formality, but a meaningful initiative to bring the administration directly to the village Chaupal. Its objective is to ensure that villagers do not have to run around offices with their problems, but rather that the administration itself reaches out to them and establishes a dialogue. He said that when officials spend the night in villages, they have the opportunity to understand the ground realities, observe local conditions closely, and assess the reality of the problems. This not only facilitates quick resolution of complaints but also strengthens trust and transparency between the administration and the public.

The DC stated that an important objective of this program is to disseminate information about the state government’s public welfare schemes to every eligible person. Often, people are unable to avail of these schemes due to lack of information. Therefore, during the overnight stay, officials provide information on the schemes on the spot and initiate the process of identifying eligible individuals and providing them with benefits. The DC stated that, as per government instructions, resolution camps are held every Monday and Thursday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the District Secretariat and SDM offices at the subdivision level. Officials from all departments are present to ensure timely and transparent resolution of complaints. He stated that the administration’s objective is not only to register complaints but also to resolve them satisfactorily, so that the public can truly experience the government’s sensitivity and accountability.

During the overnight stay, villagers primarily raised issues related to paving unpaved roads, the introduction of old-age pensions, family identity cards, and voter cards. DC Ajay Kumar directed the officials of the concerned departments to ensure timely action on each complaint and submit a progress report. He assured the villagers that all complaints received during the night stay program would be resolved transparently and effectively on a priority basis.

SDM Sohna Akhilesh Yadav, District Councilor Pushpa, DDPO Navneet Kaur, DIPR Bijendra Kumar, District Elementary Education Officer Saroj Dahiya, Tehsildar Sohna Shikha, BDPO Sachet Mittal, ADIO Naveen, village Sarpanch Sumer and other dignitaries were present at the night stay.
