Greater Noida– The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) held high-level discussions to explore avenues for expanding Japanese investment in the Yamuna Expressway region, with a proposal emerging for the development of an exclusive Japanese MSME Park.
The meeting was chaired by R.K. Singh, CEO of YEIDA, and Suzuki Takashi, Chief Director General, JETRO India, and focused on positioning the YEIDA region as a preferred manufacturing and investment destination for Japanese companies.
During the interaction, YEIDA officials highlighted the strategic advantages of the region, including its multi-modal connectivity anchored by the upcoming Noida International Airport, expected to be among the largest in Asia. The region’s proximity to the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DMIC) was also underscored as a key logistics advantage for export-oriented industries.
R.K. Singh outlined the robust industrial infrastructure, availability of land at competitive rates, and the Uttar Pradesh government’s Single Window Clearance system, aimed at ensuring smooth and time-bound approvals for investors. He also presented investment opportunities across several upcoming industrial clusters, including the Medical Devices Park, Film City, Electronics Park, Textile and Apparel Parks, apart from the proposed Japanese Industrial Park.
A key highlight of the discussions was YEIDA’s proposal to establish a dedicated industrial park for Japanese MSMEs. The suggestion was made in view of the fact that nearly 1,400 Japanese MSMEs are currently registered with JETRO and are exploring manufacturing opportunities in India as part of their global expansion strategies.
The JETRO delegation expressed keen interest in the proposal, stating that the YEIDA region is well-suited for Japanese investments due to its connectivity, infrastructure readiness, and growth potential. Officials noted that several Japanese firms already operating in India are actively planning their next phase of expansion.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with YEIDA extending a formal invitation to JETRO officials to visit the industrial sites and the Noida International Airport. Both sides also discussed the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to institutionalise cooperation and strengthen long-term collaboration between the Uttar Pradesh government and Japanese investors.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Shailendra Kumar Bhatia, IAS, Additional CEO, YEIDA, Praveen Kumar Mittal, Executive Director, Export Promotion Council, along with representatives from EY.
