Mohali, Punjab, 10th Jan 2026 – Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha inaugurated six newly constructed badminton courts and two volleyball courts across multiple locations in Mohali district, reinforcing his commitment to strengthening grassroots sports infrastructure and promoting healthy lifestyles among the youth.

The sports facilities have been developed using Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds and are located in Phase-11, Sector-79, Sector-74 (Industrial Area), Village Dhurali, and Village Mote Majra, ensuring equitable access to quality sports infrastructure for both urban and rural youth.
Speaking on the occasion, Raghav Chadha said that investing in sports is an investment in the future of the nation. He emphasized that accessible and well-maintained sports facilities help inculcate discipline, teamwork, fitness, and positive habits among young people, while also steering them away from substance abuse and other social challenges.

He further added “Proud to inaugurate 6 badminton courts & 2 volleyball courts in Mohali. Investing in sports is investing in our youth. Built using my MPLADS funds this sports infra for our youth means healthier habits and brighter futures. Giving our youth safe spaces to play, grow and dream. That’s what public funds are meant for.”

He said “These courts are not just structures made of concrete — they are safe spaces where our youth can play, grow, compete and dream. Public funds must be used to build opportunities, confidence and healthier futures for the next generation,” he said.
Local residents, sportspersons and youth groups welcomed the initiative, noting that the new facilities would significantly improve access to organized sports and encourage greater participation at the community level.

Chadha reiterated that expanding community-level sports infrastructure would remain a priority, as part of his broader vision to empower youth and promote holistic development in Punjab. He assured the residents of more such facilities using his own MPLAD funds.
