Mesmerising Kuchipudi Dance Captivates Students at Modern School, Faridabad

Renowned Artists Bring Mythological Stories to Life

Faridabad, October 8, 2025: Modern School, Sector-17, Faridabad, in collaboration with SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth), hosted a spectacular lecture and demonstration on Kuchipudi dance in its Bhagwan Mahavir Auditorium today. The event formed part of SPIC MACAY’s ongoing cultural series aimed at introducing students to India’s rich classical heritage.

The performance was presented by renowned Kuchipudi exponent Guru Vanashree Rao, accompanied by her disciple Washim Raja, vocalist K. Venkateswaran, Mridangam artist Manohar Ramchandran, and violinist Raghavendra Prasad. The artists showcased the elegance, rhythm, and expressive beauty of Kuchipudi through captivating pieces inspired by mythological and devotional themes.

The program commenced with a traditional invocation to Maa Ambey, followed by sequences depicting episodes from Indian epics. The dancers’ intricate footwork, graceful movements, and emotive abhinaya mesmerized the audience. Live music further enhanced the performance, immersing students and teachers in the spiritual and cultural essence of the art form.

Around 1,200 students, along with their teachers from different schools across Faridabad and NCR, attended the event. The students actively engaged with the artists during a brief question-and-answer session, learning about the origin of Kuchipudi in Andhra Pradesh, its storytelling style, and the importance of facial expressions in classical dance.

The event successfully fulfilled SPIC MACAY’s mission of promoting Indian classical arts among youth, instilling a sense of pride and appreciation for India’s cultural heritage.

Dr. Neelima Jain, Principal of Modern School, welcomed the guests with bouquets, while  Khushi Anchalia, Proctor of the school, proposed the vote of thanks.
