Anurag Kashyap Reveals Why He, Jaideep Ahlawat & Vijay Varma Touched Manoj Bajpayee’s Feet

The video of the incident quickly went viral, sparking curiosity among fans about the reason behind the gesture.
In an interview with News18, Kashyap revealed the story behind the now-viral video. He said that he, Jaideep, Vijay, and actor Viineet Kumar Singh had reunited after a long time and decided to express their admiration for Manoj in a lighthearted way.
“Jaideep, Vijay, Viineet and I met each other suddenly after a long time. And we touched Manoj’s feet (laughs). He’s unstoppable. He just goes on and on with his films. Inspector Zende was released recently, and then Jugnuma came. Kaise kar leta hai yeh aadmi (how does this man do this)! He’s older but ten times fitter than me. He’s like another Anil Kapoor. That’s why hum unke pair padh gaye the. He’s a legend,” Kashyap explained.
The clip showed Manoj Bajpayee standing on stage as Vijay Varma greeted him with a hug. Jaideep Ahlawat then bent down to touch Manoj’s feet, leaving the actor smiling and laughing. Soon after, Anurag Kashyap and Vijay Varma joined in, with Anurag almost bowing completely while Manoj tried to free himself. The friendly banter between the stars quickly won over the internet.
Kashyap’s latest directorial, Nishaanchi, released on 19 September 2025 and has been well-received by critics. His next film, Bandar, featuring Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra, had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) earlier this month. Its India release date is awaited.
As an actor, Kashyap will be seen in Dacoit: A Love Story, directed by Shaneil Deo and starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur. The film is slated for a Christmas 2025 release.
