New Delhi : On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta paid a heartfelt tribute to the courage, dedication, and supreme sacrifice of the nation’s brave soldiers. She remarked that 26 July stands as a proud testament to the Indian Army’s valour, strategic acumen, and unwavering spirit.
Addressing a ceremony organised by the Senior Citizens’ Welfare Committee at AB Block, the Chief Minister said that the heroism displayed by the Kargil warriors in reclaiming the treacherous mountain peaks will remain forever engraved in the hearts of all Indians.

The event witnessed a significant gathering of senior citizens, local residents, social organisations, and youth. CM Rekha Gupta paid grateful homage to the soldiers who, in 1999, demonstrated unparalleled bravery and patriotism by sacrificing their lives in defence of the motherland. She stated that their supreme sacrifice will forever remain etched in the nation’s collective memory and continue to serve as an enduring source of inspiration.
Highlighting the importance of senior citizens in society, the Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described their experience and guidance as an invaluable asset. She also announced the Delhi Government’s Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana, a new initiative aimed at ensuring that senior citizens lead a dignified life with access to quality healthcare and dedicated services.

“Our goal is to ensure that no elderly person is left struggling for medical care and that they are able to live securely and independently,” she said. “True patriotism lies in preserving our glorious past while carrying out our present responsibilities with sensitivity and commitment.”
The Chief Minister also paid tribute through her official social media handle, stating that Kargil Vijay Diwas stands as a symbol of the Indian Army’s unparalleled bravery, discipline, and unwavering devotion to the nation. She emphasised that the battle was not merely about defending a stretch of land, but about safeguarding India’s honour, sovereignty, and collective resolve. Calling the victory at Kargil a triumph of courage, restraint, dignity, and profound love for the motherland, she said the sacrifice of the martyrs continues to inspire the spirit of ‘Nation First’.

In another post, she shared her visit to the Senior Citizens’ Welfare Society in Shalimar Bagh on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, where she engaged in a warm and heartfelt interaction with the respected elders. Highlighting their lifelong dedication to family, society, and the nation, she stressed that at this significant stage of life, they deserve the highest respect, care, and affection.
Drawing inspiration from the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi, she announced the launch of the “Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana,” aimed at ensuring quality healthcare services and a dignified life for every senior citizen.
Paying her respects to the valiant heroes of Kargil, she wrote, “On this Kargil Vijay Diwas, I bow in humble tribute to the brave sons of Mother India, whose courage and sacrifice wrote an immortal saga of defending our nation. Vande Mataram. Jai Hind.”
