Faridabad: A grand tent and stage have been erected at Surajkund Gol Chakkar for the National-Level Maha Panchayat of the Sarv Samaj 36 Biradari, organized under the banner of the Anangpur Sangharsh Samiti. The event, scheduled from 10 AM to 3 PM on Sunday, will accommodate over 20,000 people, with all logistical arrangements finalized.
Addressing media at the site, Vijay Pratap, Advisor to the Anangpur Sangharsh Samiti, stated that the Maha Panchayat is being organized in response to the 6,500 notices issued by authorities, which have endangered the homes and livelihoods of nearly one lakh people across several colonies including Shiv Durga Vihar and the 1,200-year-old historic village of Anangpur, located near the Delhi border.
“Bulldozers have already reached Anangpur, despite only verbal assurances from Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar during the villagers’ peaceful march to his residence. No concrete action has been taken, and demolition has begun,” said Vijay Pratap.
He emphasized that the Maha Panchayat has extended invitations to leaders from all political parties and communities across India to stand united in protecting heritage and homes. “The forest department’s actions are in violation of norms. They are attempting to uproot over 50,000 families and 50,000 farmhouses and commercial units, including banquet halls, event decorators, designers, electricians, sweepers, cooks, and guards whose livelihoods depend on these areas,” Vijay Pratap said.
He accused forest officials of presenting misleading information before the Supreme Court and criticized elected representatives, particularly local MLAs, for declaring farms and colonies as illegal in the state assembly and calling for their demolition.
“These are not illegal structures. Many of these farms are built on half-acre plots are private properties, yet the forest department falsely claims ownership. Let them explain how this land is forest area,” challenged Pratap.
According to Vijay Pratap, areas like Anangpur and Shiv Durga Vihar are not legally classified as forest land under existing laws, yet have been wrongly declared so by the department. He demanded that the Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar intervene decisively.
“If he truly stands for the people, he must lead this movement and facilitate an ordinance through the Haryana government to be presented in the Supreme Court. Mere words are not enough,” said Vijay Pratap.
He warned that the demolition of Anangpur, located on the doorstep of Delhi, could set a precedent that would affect thousands of villages across the Aravalli hills, all the way to Rajasthan. “This Maha Panchayat aims to stop the bulldozer and safeguard the lives and rights of lakhs of people,” he concluded.
