Jaipur, 20 December 2023– North-West railways are doing electrification of its tracks on a good pace under the leadership of General Manager Amitabh, said Captain Shashi Kiran chief PRO North-West Railway. Electrification of railway on this zone has been taken up on priority in the recent years.
Till now North-West railways have completed electrification of 4634 kilometers of track. In the current financial year 2023-24 the track that has been electrified upto November amounts to 667 kilometer. This include Deedwana-Degana, Sriganganagar-Gajsiingh, Peepad Road-Medta Road, Samdadi – Jalaur, Kharwachanda – Jaisamand Road, Badmer – Gadra Road, Peepad Road- Rai Ka Bagh etc. to name a few. Presently 138 pairs of trains are running on the electric traction. PRO said that the North-West railway has set a target to convert all the railway tracks to electrify which would lead to speeding up of the trains and also adding to the savings on fuel because diesel engines would be replaced by electric engines.
This would also contribute towards conservation of environment and also saving on petroleum products.
