Andhra Pradesh : Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed profound grief following the devastating explosion at Escientia Pharma Company in Atchutapuram, which resulted in the tragic loss of 17 lives and left several others severely injured. The incident, which has shocked the local community and highlighted serious safety concerns, prompted a strong response from the state’s top official.
In a statement to the media, Chief Minister Naidu described the explosion as a stark reminder of the dire consequences when industrial safety protocols are not adhered to. He conveyed his deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and extended heartfelt sympathies to those affected by the explosion. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Naidu assured the public that the government would provide substantial support to the victims’ families and those injured in the incident.
To address the immediate needs of the affected families, the Chief Minister announced a comprehensive financial assistance package. The government will provide ₹1 crore to the families of the deceased, ₹50 lakh to those who sustained severe injuries, and ₹25 lakh to individuals with minor injuries. This support is aimed at alleviating some of the financial burdens that have emerged in the wake of the tragedy.
While acknowledging the importance of financial aid, Chief Minister Naidu emphasized that no amount of compensation could ever replace the loss of lives. He underscored the critical need for industries to implement and adhere to rigorous safety standards to prevent such catastrophic events. The Chief Minister stressed that industrial development must be pursued with a commitment to safety, and any negligence in following standard operating procedures (SOPs) will not be tolerated.
In response to the incident, Naidu announced the formation of a High-Level Inquiry Committee. This committee will be tasked with conducting a thorough investigation into the causes of the explosion and determining the lapses that led to the tragedy. The inquiry aims to identify deficiencies in safety practices and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The formation of the committee reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the root causes of the accident and implementing necessary reforms to enhance industrial safety. As the investigation progresses, it is expected to shed light on the factors contributing to the explosion and lead to actionable recommendations for improving safety standards across the industrial sector in Andhra Pradesh.
