Faridabad, 14th December 2023- All India Inter University Shooting Championship 2023-24 was organized by Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) from 8 to 11 December 2023 at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, Delhi. Nearly 400 shooters from 63 universities nationwide participated in this championship and showed their strength. The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony was Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon Joint Secretary, AIU (YA & Sports) who was joined by Ms Ivana Ertlova, Chair Technical Committee Shooting Sports, FISU; Mr. Juan Carios Holgado, Sports Director, FISU-International University Sports Federation. Along with these Dr. Pardeep Kumar, PVC, MRIIRS; Mr. K.P Sreejit, Administrator, Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Delhi, Mr. Sarkar Talwar, Director Sports, MREI; Mr. Atul Kalra, Director Admin, MREI and Mr. Agam Talwar, Administrator Sports, MREI were also present.
Anish from MRIIRS won Gold in 25-meter rapid-fire pistol (men) individual category. In the same category, Vijayveer Sidhu from Panjab University, Chandigarh, won silver medal and Adarsh Singh from Panjab University won bronze medal. In the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol (Men) team event, Vijayveer Sidhu, Adarsh Singh Devansh Vashistha from Panjab University stood first. Amanpreet Singh, Surinder Singh, Shahbaz Kumar from Punjabi University Patiala got second position and Ankait Tomar, Raunak Khattar, Archit Goyal from MDU Rohtak got third position.
Manu Bhaker from Panjab University won gold in the Sports Pistol Women (Individual) category. Simranpreet Kaur from Panjab University won the silver medal, and Divyanshi Dhama from GNDU won the bronze medal. In the team event, the team of Rhythm Sangwan, Payal, and Tejaswani from Delhi University was the gold winner. The team of Manu Bhaker, Simranpreet Kaur, and Jasmine Kelly from Panjab University won silver and Mohini Kature, Anjali Waghmode, and Tejaswini Kadam from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University won bronze. In the skeet men’s (individual) category, Abhay Singh Sekhon from Punjabi University Patiala won the gold medal. Areeba Khan from Jamia Millia Islamia Delhi won the gold medal in the women’s category. Punjabi University Patiala won the gold medal in skeet men (team event).
Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar from GNDU Amritsar won the gold medal in the 50-meter rifle 3P men’s (individual) category and Sift Kaur Samra from GNDU Amritsar won the gold medal in the women’s category. Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, won gold in 50m Rifle 3P Men (Team Event). Meanwhile, GNDU Amritsar got gold in the women’s category of the same event.
Manav Rachna Students Shine at AIIU:
Anish from MRIIRS won Gold in 25-meter rapid-fire pistol (men) individual category. In the Trap Men (Individual) category, Bakhtiyaruddin from MRIIRS bagged Gold, Shapath Bhardwaj won a Silver and Aryavansh won a Bronze medal. MRIIRS team won in trap men (team event). Kirti Gupta from MRIIRS won the Gold in the Trap Women (Individual) category, while the MRIIRS team won in Trap Women (Team Event). Shapath Bhardwaj and Kirti Gupta from MRIIRS were the Trap (Mixed) event winners.
