Pappu Tea Stall is famous for tea in Varanasi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also had tea at this shop.

Patna, April 30, 2024– There is a small tea shop at Assi Crossing in Varanasi, named Pappu Tea Stall, where people wait for tea to be made and get tea when their number comes. Two types of tea are made at this tea shop. One time milk tea, then the second time lemon masala tea. Those who want to drink lemon masala tea, if lemon tea is being made, they will not get tea from the lemon tea being made because as long as tea is being made, people wait to drink that tea. Not only that, after lemon tea is made, milk tea is made, and people who drink milk tea also stand in line. After milk tea, lemon tea is made, and this process continues continuously, and similarly, the number of people drinking tea continues to wait. After milk, lemon, and after lemon, milk tea continues to be made. Tea drinkers naturally wait for their turn, there is no pushing or shoving.

The method of making tea at Pappu Tea Stall is also different from other tea shops. To make milk tea, first, milk is boiled properly. Then cardamom and other spices are added. Then the glass is rinsed with hot water, then sugar is added to the glass, then hot milk is poured into the glass, then the tea bag in the cloth is placed on top of the glass, pouring hot water very slowly from above the glass onto the bag, the stream falling from the bag falls into the tea glass, meaning tea essence is added to the milk through this medium, the flow of tea essence is so slow that the effect of water is not seen in the milk tea, neither in appearance nor in drinking. The tea tastes very delicious.

Spicy lemon tea is also made in the same way. Only water is boiled separately for lemon tea, then the glass is washed with hot water, then sugar is added to the glass, then lemon is squeezed and its juice, then the spice in which Hajmola is also added, then a few thin slices of ginger and mint, then the tied tea bag (tea pot) is placed on top of the glass, pouring hot water very slowly from above the glass onto the bag, tea is ready very slowly.

Pappu Tea Stall was first run by Baldev Singh. After that, his son started running it and Pappu popularized the shop with his name which is now famous as Pappu Tea Stall. Now their son Satish is running this shop. Satish is the third generation of his family. In this way, this tea shop is almost 84 years old.

The pleasure of tea at Pappu Tea Stall has also been enjoyed by the current Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi. When Narendra Modi was going from Kashi Vishwanath Temple to BHU in the year 2022, while going, he stopped at this shop and took a sip of tea and discussed politics with the people sitting there and also took feedback on the work of his government. During this time, he took three sips of tea, two times milk tea and once spicy tea.
