New Delhi : The second flight carrying Indian deportees from the United States is expected to land at Amritsar International Airport between 10 PM and 11 PM on Saturday. This flight, carrying 119 Indian nationals, is part of the US government’s ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration.
This deportation comes amid intensified efforts by US authorities to curb unlawful entry into the country. Many of the deportees had reportedly attempted to enter the US through irregular means, including crossing the Mexico-US border. The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has been actively identifying and deporting individuals who lack legal status in the country.
The deportees include individuals from Punjab, Haryana, and other states who had gone to the US in search of better economic opportunities but were apprehended due to immigration violations. Many of them had spent months in detention before being processed for deportation. This is the second flight arriving in India this month, indicating the US administration’s strict stance on immigration policies.
The arrival of deportees is being closely monitored by Indian authorities. The Punjab government, along with immigration officials, has made necessary arrangements for their reception. Upon arrival, the deportees will undergo verification procedures, including identity checks and questioning regarding their time in the US. Some of them may also be interrogated further to understand the circumstances of their migration and any potential involvement of illegal immigration networks.
Families of many deportees are expected to gather at the airport, anxious to reunite with their loved ones after months of separation. However, the return is also met with concerns regarding their future prospects, as many of them had invested heavily in reaching the US, often through agents and intermediaries charging exorbitant fees.
This deportation is part of broader global efforts to address illegal immigration and human trafficking. Reports suggest that thousands of Indians attempt to enter the US every year through illegal channels, making it a significant issue for both nations. The Indian government has been coordinating with US authorities to ensure the safe return of its citizens while also cracking down on fraudulent immigration agents who exploit individuals seeking to migrate.
