Hyderabad : Hyderabad authorities have commenced a demolition operation at the N-Convention Centre, owned by prominent actor Nagarjuna. This action follows serious allegations of illegal construction within the Full Tank Level (FTL) area and buffer zone of the Thammidikunta Lake, situated in Madhapur.
The N-Convention Centre, a sprawling establishment covering approximately 10 acres, has been under scrutiny for some time due to concerns about its construction practices. According to official records from the North Tank Division’s executive engineer, the FTL area of Thammidikunta Lake spans about 29.24 acres. Reports indicate that the N-Convention Centre encroached upon approximately 1.12 acres of this FTL area, along with an additional 2 acres within the designated buffer zone.
The controversy surrounding the N-Convention Centre has been fueled by allegations that its management utilized their influence to bypass regulatory actions imposed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other authorities. It is claimed that these efforts allowed them to evade consequences associated with their encroachments, leading to prolonged scrutiny and legal battles.
The demolition began early on Saturday morning, with officials from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) team overseeing the process. To ensure the operation proceeded smoothly and without disruption, a substantial contingent of police personnel was deployed. This move underscores the city’s ongoing commitment to addressing illegal constructions and enforcing regulatory compliance.
The demolition has drawn significant attention, reflecting broader concerns about urban development and adherence to environmental regulations. The N-Convention Centre’s case is part of a larger effort by the city to tackle unauthorized constructions and ensure that developments do not encroach upon critical areas such as water bodies and their surrounding buffer zones.
As the operation continues, the focus remains on ensuring that such encroachments are addressed in accordance with legal and environmental standards. The demolition at the N-Convention Centre serves as a reminder of the importance of regulatory compliance and the city’s determination to uphold its environmental and urban planning laws.
