Rajasthan : At least 22 people have lost their lives across Rajasthan due to severe torrential rains that have been affecting the state since Saturday. The heavy rainfall has led to extensive waterlogging in cities such as Jaipur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, and Dausa.
In response to the ongoing situation, authorities have closed all government and private schools in Jaipur, Jaipur Rural, Dausa, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur, and Bharatpur districts for today. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma convened a meeting with senior officials in Jaipur to review the situation. He has directed officials to accelerate relief efforts and implement necessary precautions based on the weather forecast for the coming days.
The rains have caused several tragic incidents, including the drowning of seven youths in the Banganga river near Srinagar village in Bharatpur district. Additionally, a person who slipped into deep water at Kanota Dam near Jaipur led to the drowning of four friends who attempted to help him. Approximately ten other individuals have died in various rain-related incidents across different districts.
The Chief Minister has urged residents to take extra precautions during the heavy rains. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy to very heavy rain in seven eastern districts of the state for today.
