Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced that the state will procure all crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). During the BJP’s ‘Vijay Shankhnad’ rally in Kurukshetra, Mr. Saini mentioned that currently, the state government is procuring 14 crops at MSP. He also stated that the government has decided to waive off outstanding canal water irrigation charges, known as ‘abiana,’ amounting to ₹133 crore. Additionally, the ‘abiana’ system will be discontinued, benefiting farmers by approximately ₹54 crore per annum.
Mr. Saini further announced that ₹137 crore in pending compensation for crop damage due to natural calamities in Rohtak, Nuh, Fatehabad, and Sirsa before 2023 will be paid to farmers within a week. This compensation will be directly transferred to the farmers’ accounts. Moreover, farmers will now be allowed to purchase three-star motors for new tubewell connections from anywhere in the country, expanding beyond the currently registered 10 companies in the state.
The Chief Minister also revealed plans to fill 40,000 posts in the government sector. These initiatives are part of the government’s efforts to support the agricultural sector and improve the livelihoods of farmers in Haryana.
