Paris Olympics 2024 Opening Ceremony will take place today in France along the Seine River

The Paris Olympics 2024 will officially begin with the Opening Ceremony scheduled to be held along the River Seine today. This year’s Games will celebrate the centenary of the 1924 Olympics, marking a century since Paris last hosted the event. Paris, which first hosted the Olympics in 1900, will become only the second city, after London, to host the Games three times.

The design of the Paris 2024 Olympic medals highlights the return of the Games to France. Crafted by the 240-year-old Maison Chaumet, each medal features an original piece of the Eiffel Tower and the face of ‘Marianne,’ the symbol of the French Republic. The ribbons, made in Saint-Étienne, include patterns of the Eiffel Tower, with the Paralympic medal adorned in the iconic red color of the Eiffel Tower.
