New Delhi, June 19, 2025 – Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta met former British Prime Minister and founder of Tony Blair Institute for Global Change Mr. Tony Blair today at the Delhi Secretariat in a courtesy meeting. The discussion focused on the depth of India-UK relations, emerging global democratic challenges, and opportunities for mutual cooperation in the fields of good governance, urban development, and education.
The Chief Minister warmly welcomed Mr. Tony Blair on his visit to Delhi and held an in-depth discussion with him on the ongoing transformational efforts in digital governance, education, healthcare, and environmental reforms across the capital. She shared how the Delhi Government is working under the vision of a “Viksit Dilli” to modernize education, healthcare, women empowerment, and urban infrastructure with a citizen-centric approach.
Mr. Tony Blair appreciated the progressive changes taking place in Delhi and showed particular interest in the city’s innovations in digital governance, school reforms, and environmental policy improvements.
Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta described the meeting with the former British Prime Minister as a positive experience for her government. She highlighted their discussions on administrative reforms, the use of technology, and collaborative efforts for citizen welfare. The Chief Minister termed the meeting a golden opportunity for Delhi and said that both Delhi Government and TBI will explore the ways for collaborating for learning from best practises for transforming Delhi as a model city.
