Sector 143, Noida | June 5, 2025 – In a heartwarming celebration that brought together residents across three generations, Aakriti Shantiniketan in Sector 143, Noida, observed World Environment Day with a resounding message of sustainability, unity, and hope. The event was beautifully curated by the AOA along with the Sports and Cultural Committee, and witnessed full participation from children, parents, and grandparents – a true symbol of how collective action begins at home.
The morning began with a short talk on the importance of World Environment Day, where Mr. Naushad Ahmed Khan, President of AOA, addressed the gathering. Speaking to the children, he emphasized the theme of 2025: “Our Land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration.”
“Change begins from within our homes and hearts. Let’s pledge not just to plant trees but to raise a generation that values them. Today, when I see children adopting plants and naming them, I feel assured our future is in responsible hands,” said Mr. Khan.
The most touching moment of the day was the adoption of plants by children, where each child placed a personalized tag with their name and pledged to nurture their plant. The act of naming the plant after themselves made the message of care, responsibility, and connection even more personal.
In a joint effort, 12 trees were planted in the adjacent authority park – a symbolic and impactful gesture towards urban greening. From toddlers to elders, hands came together to dig, plant, and water, reinforcing the idea that when roots are sown with care, they grow into a lush, united community.
Adding depth to the celebration, Mrs. Meena Sharma, retired government official and the Chief Guest of the event, shared her thoughts:
“This initiative is more than just a celebration; it’s a movement. I am deeply touched to see how this community values nature and honours the silent warriors behind it – our gardeners. A tree today will be someone’s shade tomorrow.”
The event also took a moment to honour the gardening staff – led by Bansari ji and his team – for their year-round dedication.
“Our gardeners don’t just work with soil; they work with soul,” a resident said gratefully.
As the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change envisions a “green, clean and sustainable India”, communities like Aakriti Shantiniketan are playing a pivotal role in turning vision into action. This celebration is not just a one-day affair but a reminder that citizens are the real stewards of the environment, and every effort counts.
From planting trees to planting values – this World Environment Day at Aakriti Shantiniketan will be remembered as a living example of generational responsibility, environmental consciousness, and community spirit.
