Former Tripura CM and MP Biplab Deb Engages with Intellectuals and the Middle Class on the Budget

Says, Budget Lays the Foundation for Vikasit Bharat.

Faridabad, February 16: Former Chief Minister of Tripura and MP Biplab Kumar Deb engaged in a discussion on the Union Budget 2025-26 with intellectuals and middle-class citizens at the BJP office, Atal Kamal, on Sunday. He described the budget as a blueprint for a developed India and one that fulfills the aspirations of the poor. He emphasized that this budget is a significant step toward economic growth and a self-reliant India.

The former CM of Tripura stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country is progressing steadily on the path of development. He highlighted that the Modi government’s decision to exempt income up to ₹12 lakh from taxes is a major gift to middle-class families. During the discussion, Deb listened to the views of intellectuals and the middle class and provided them with a detailed understanding of the bud5get.

Earlier, interacting with journalists, Biplab Kumar Deb outlined key points of the budget. He criticized opposition leaders, stating that many of them give reactions on the budget without even reading it.

Biplab Kumar Deb called the Union Budget 2025-26 a visionary budget for the country’s future. He pointed out that allocating ₹20,000 crore for nuclear power signifies a prosperous and developed India. He also highlighted the 10.1% projected growth rate as a bold move by the Modi government. The budget includes several initiatives for the welfare of youth, farmers, women, and the underprivileged. The government has raised the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loan limit from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh, providing significant relief to farmers.

Deb further stated that Prime Minister Modi ensures that every initiative delivers visible results. The government aims to set up three new urea plants, benefiting millions of farmers across the country.

Speaking about Haryana, former Haryana BJP in-charge Biplab Kumar Deb compared the financial assistance provided to the state under different regimes. He noted that the UPA government allocated ₹21,564 crore to Haryana until 2014, while the Modi government has provided ₹78,345 crore—263% more than the previous government. The Modi administration has also set a target of increasing medical science seats by 10,000 per year, reaching 75,000 seats in the next five years.

He emphasized that the BJP government is committed to improving the education sector. Recognizing the digital era, the government plans to extend broadband services to schools. Deb described the budget as employment-generating and crucial in strengthening India’s economy towards achieving the $5 trillion goal.

Biplab Kumar Deb asserted that PM Modi’s vision of Swachh Bharat extends beyond cleanliness—it also means a corruption-free India.

He criticized Congress for its outdated definition of poverty, which had guided the country for years. In contrast, under PM Modi’s leadership, the poor and middle class are becoming increasingly prosperous and empowered.
Since COVID-19 pandemic, the Modi government has been providing 5 kg of free food grains and other essential supplies per person to the underprivileged.

He further highlighted that the government has set a target to establish cancer hospitals in districts and has removed customs duties on 36 life-saving medicines, ensuring affordability for the poor.

The event was attended by Haryana’s Food Minister Rajesh Nagar, former Cabinet Minister and MLA Moolchand Sharma, former MP Sunita Duggal, District BJP President Rajkumar Vohra, District In-charge Narendra Vats, former District President Gopal Sharma, District General Secretary Surendra Jangra, District Media In-charge Vinod Gupta, Media Co-incharge Raj Madan, and Abhas Agarwal, among others.
