New Delhi, July 16, 2024 : The Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi government, under the leadership of PWD Minister Atishi, has approved a significant project to upgrade and strengthen the 4.5 km stretch of Ring Road from Ashram to Bhairon Road T-Point. This decision aims to enhance safety and aesthetics for the thousands of commuters who use this vital route daily.
PWD Minister Atishi emphasized the importance of this stretch, stating, “This road is crucial for the daily commute of lakhs of residents in Delhi. Our goal is to transform it into a safer, more resilient thoroughfare that reflects international standards of quality.”
The decision to undertake this project aligns with the vision of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to establish a world-class transport infrastructure in Delhi, improving connectivity and ensuring a smoother travel experience across the city.
Highlighting the necessity for the upgrade, Minister Atishi noted that the current road surface exhibits cracks due to heavy traffic load. Following thorough inspections by experts, the PWD has been instructed to commence strengthening work promptly to address these issues.
“Atishi reiterated the commitment of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to elevate Delhi’s road network to global standards,” the statement affirmed. She further directed officials to uphold stringent safety, security, and quality standards throughout the upgrade process to minimize inconvenience to commuters.
The project underscores the Delhi government’s proactive approach in enhancing public infrastructure, with a focus on improving road conditions and ensuring a better quality of life for residents.
